Recent Highlights in Northcote Town Centre
It has been a busy summer period for Northcote Mainstreet and the Northcote Town Centre. Some of the recent activities have included -
Saturday Concerts
The centre has hosted bands each Saturday over summer from 10:30am – 1:30pm. The Northcote Town Centre strives to give customers a great experience. And Saturday concerts help provide that experience with free, live music from quality bands These have added atmosphere and ambience to the Centre, and have been very well received by public.
Chinese Checkers Tables
The Northcote Town Centre has the goal of becoming the “Cultural Centre of Auckland”. One of the recent projects which works towards this is two Chinese Checkers Tables whch have been manufactured and installed under the elm tree in Pearn Place.

We will now have the tiling done for the Chinese Checkers Boards, as well as a standard chess board which allows people to play Chess or Draughts. The tables will provide a facility for people of all ethnicities to play Chess or Checkers in the shaded setting under the horizontal elm tree, especially elderly Chinese who already come into the centre to play checkers.
Chinese & Korean New Year Festival
The Chinese & Korean New Year Festival went extremely well on the 19th & 20th of February. The festival was extended to a Friday evening for the first time with a crowd of several thousand attending the Friday night performances.
The festival was featured on the TV3 News on Saturday, 20 February which was great for the Northcote Town Centre. Several photographs from the recent festival are featured in this newsletter.

Northcote Community Constable
Ni hao, Nei ho, Annyong, Konnichiwa, Selamat, Sawadee, Xin chào, Namaste, Kia ora, Talofa, Hello!
I have been the Northcote Community Constable for 6 months and by now, most of you will be familiar with who I am. I will be writing a short message each month to highlight a particular problem or issue relating to crime prevention and security for businesses and workers in the Northcote Shopping Centre.

If you would like to meet me or want to talk to me about an issue, feel free to stop in at my office. Located between the Lib rary and Plunket rooms, my office is open each Tuesday and Thursday from 11am until 2pm. Due to operational requirements I may not always be there. However, with the aid of my trusty police volunteer, Keith, the office will always be open at these times. In addition, I will be in the shopping centre Monday to Friday “walking the beat” for about an hour each day. It is my goal to be as easily accessible as possible to everyone in the Northcote area, and this is how to contact me:
Glenfield Police Station: Ph: 443 8039 (Mon to Fri 8.30am – 4pm)
Northcote Constable Office: Ph 480 2160 (11am-2pm Tues and Thurs)
Mobile: 027 477 6239 (24hrs- leave a message if I do not answer)
